Areas of Practice

Clinical Mental Health Counseling

All of the Clinicians have experience working with individuals who currently meet or have met the criteria for a clinical mental health diagnosis.  Anxiety, Depression, Bipolar Disorder, and Personality Disorders are some of the common diagnoses treated. Common approaches to counseling include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Existential Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness, Object-Relations Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy.

Life Transition Counseling

Life throws many surprises at us, and while we cannot predict the outcome of any situation, we can take control of how we respond to certain situations. With life transition counseling, you’ll learn about acceptance and how to exert your power of choice over whatever life may throw at you.

Substance Use Counseling

One size does not fit all when it comes to working with individuals diagnosed with substance used disorders.  Your Counselor will work to understand your unique needs as a client and work with you to help find abstinence or recovery of chemical and behavioral addictions.  The Counselors are trained to work with adolescents and adults who are currently struggling with using substances or engaging in repetitive maladaptive behaviors.  Theories used include: Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Narrative Therapy.

Family/Marriage/Couples Counseling

Marriage and Family Counseling explores the relationships between groups of people, while working towards common goals.  While many Counselors may not feel competent to work with families or with couples, our Counselors have specific training in working with families who are working through transition, dealing with substance use issues, as well as pre/post divorce counseling.  Marriage and Family Theories used include Systems Theory, Collaborative Couples Counseling, Strategic Therapy, and Constructivist Counseling.

Consultation

Psychological concepts can be utilized in a variety of settings. If you have a challenge at work, need assistance in reviewing programs and systems in place, or guidance in how to manage disputes, our clinicians may be able to help.
